Rostock and Warnemünde are the two names of the main German port on the Baltic Sea. Rostock is one of the largest cities in East Germany, and during the time of the separation of East and West Germany, it was the port of the German Democratic Republic and a center of the shipping industry. Warnemünde is the spa resort of the city.
Today, the shipping industry has virtually disappeared and Rostock-Warnemünde has become an important stop for Baltic Sea cruises. Every summer, people from all over the world take tours of the Ostsee (East Sea), which is what the Baltic Sea is called in German. When they are in the German area, they disembark at the ports of Rostock or Warnemünde and in this way have the possibility of discovering the country.
From these ports you can visit Berlin, the capital of reunified Germany, or take a tour of the cities in northeast Germany that seduce visitors with their beautiful architecture, such as Schwerin and Wismar.
Our ViveBerlin cooperative offers three different itineraries designed to help you and your group make the most of your shore time in Germany:
